Men's Breast Cancer
New Study on Breast Cancer Treatment
Research was done at Duke University on women who had early stage breast cancer and they found that those who had lumpectomies and radiation were 14% more likely to live than those that had complete mastectomies. More study is needed to understand why this is, however this idea offers more hope to those who are inflicted.
New Bra
Not only am I large breasted but I'm over 50 so you could guess where they hang bra less. I can't complain of back pain because of them I just know they're heavy and in the way.
Well I placed another order for a bra and a bounce less sports bra in the correct sizes. I was shocked when I tried the bra on. The second I put it on and snapped up the seven front hooks I immediately felt such relief and a great sensation of weight being taken off me. I couldn't believe a good bra could feel so wonderful! I felt like a new woman, not to mention how much better I looked. They're up at least a foot higher now!
I still say if you are large breasted, and I'm not talking about DD's, you cannot measure yourself the way all these bra "experts" suggest. You've got to try them on till you find one that will hold your whole breast up high with enough strength so it doesn't crawl up your back while you're wearing it.
The relief you will feel is worth the extra effort. I ordered mine from Just My Size.
How Do They Know?
My grandson is about 16 months old now. When he was an infant just a few months old, he attempted several times to latch onto mine and my daughters breast when we held him. The thing is that she never breastfed him or even tried.
I assume this is just a natural response on his part. It just surprised us that he would know instinctively what they were for in his world. Something to think about, huh?
Hold Onto Your Breast Milk For Now
Now they are asking women who want to donate their breast milk not to because of the lack of clean storage space and the electricity it takes to keep it pure and refrigerated.
According to the news I read today, they don't see any acceptable way to feed these infants from outside Haiti. They need the refrigeration to keep ready made formula and breast milk cold. Although I've seen plenty of ready made formula that didn't have to be refrigerated till the container was opened. They don't want to use powdered formula because they don't have the pure clean water to mix with it.
They estimate that 200,00 people were killed. I don't know how many babies they need to feed. Some of these organizations are going by the fact that Haitian kids over the age of one who were being breast fed should continue because it's better than formula. They are probably right, but these are emergency conditions out there, so I would think over one year of age they get them some other form of nutrition.
Haiti Needs Breast Milk
It sounds very strange however it's true. The organizations in the US that are for and about breastfeeding are calling for at least 100 oz. donations of breast milk. The plan is to clean it up, and store it so or until it can be shipped to Haiti for all the babies and toddlers who lost their moms in the quake.
I guess they are against shipping formula because the water is mostly contaminated and the water they are getting must be used for everyone. They don't want to ship over ready made formula because it's not as good as breastmilk is for the children.
So ladies, get those pumps going, unless you feel the urge to go to Haiti and feed them breast to mouth yourselves like Selma did a while back.
New Bra Adventure
Well I do believe I hit on the right cup size, but guessed too small on the other. One more try should get me into the right size bra. What can I say, I'm a woman of few clothes these past couple years since I've gotten sick. It's diabetes and hypothyroidism. In my case both are managable if I take care of myself and take my pills which I haven't been. The point is I expect to lose some weight when I go back on my pills. So I'm not returning this bra. After a couple inches I'm back or rather their back in the saddle again.

Still Fighting Over Breast Cancer Screenings
The experts are still fighting over breast cancer screenings and mammograms. One side says they are important and have saved thousands of lives and the other side says they cost women to be treated for cancers which they simply don't have. Of course let's not forget the bottom line in all this is still money.
When they figure out which is cheaper and for whom it is cheaper then they will direct us towards that advice. What a terrible way to manage finding a disease that has claimed so many lives. What are we to do?
Breast Updates
Their story works out fine, as they were both caught early enoungh for effective treament and are now clear of the disease. Good for them!

Large Breast Measurements
I am still looking for a way to measure for a large size bra. I still maintain when you a very large breasted you can't measure for a bra the same way smaller breasted women do.
I was thinking maybe it would have to be a mold like a bowl and put the breast in it for cup size, otherwise the breast hangs and flattens out somewhat giving a false cupsize. Any ideas?
Video of Salma Hayek Breastfeeding a Hungry Infant In Africa
I was a little taken aback at first on this story, however after realizing we are talking about a hungry infant who must be breastfed because of being so poor as to not afford formula, and whose mother for some reason cannot produce any milk.
Salma has a one year old daughter and is in the process of weaning her daughter from the breast. She still has plenty of milk and felt sorry for the hungry infant who was one week old, born on her daughters first birthday. Here's the video,
Facebook and Breastfeeding, Yes Again
So Facebook has decided to pull breastfeeding photos from their site. I say good for them! I certainly have nothing against breastfeeding. However, I find it disgusting that a large majority of breeder feeders insist on doing it in public.
Instead of being called mothers for breastfeeding they should be called mothers for breastfeeding for show.
You know sometimes a mom can't help but stop at the mall or somewhere and have to breastfeed. Babies get hungry and you can't always plan the exact time that will happen. If you make them wait they will scream and wail until you do feed them. I got that. What I don't get is why some moms expose themselves without any kind of modesty for everyone to see. In fact I will go so far as to say they do it more for the attention rather than the health of the baby.
Ladies aside from the health standpoint, it's a bonding moment between the mother and child. It does not require nor ask for an audience of strangers. In fact I think that takes away from the true beauty of the experience, but then I'm not an exibitionist.
Why Tamoxifen Doesn't Work For All Women
Women who have had breast cancer are often given the drug Tamoxifen to help prevent the return of the cancer, but in as many as 35% of woman the drug fails. Now doctors have found out why.
There is a strong cancer gene that the drug has to be able to turn off. When the gene cannot be turned off the tamoxifen will not work.
It seems to be down to a battle between two proteins and although this information will not help make the drug work better as of yet, it will allow doctors to identify which women it will not work in. This will save time in that doctors can choose other means of therapies. Eventually they may figure out how to use the drug in all women effectively.
Exercise Can Cut Breast Cancer
Vigorous exercise can cut the risk of breast cancer in normal weight women. Non vigorous exercise has no effect on breast cancer, and vigorous exercise on overweight women has no effect.
Vigorous exercise would be activities such as scrubbing floors, jogging, running, dancing, and biking.
Non vigorous exercise and vigorous exercise on obese women still have their worth for a number of other health reasons, so don't stop doing them. They just won't help with breast cancer risk.
Baby Time!
My daughter had her baby, my first grandchild on October 1st. He was 18 inches long and 5 lbs. 5 oz. She took lots of long walks and ate good foods, her labor only lasted about 5 to 6 hours and the baby was born healthy and whole.
She was willing to begin breastfeeding in the hospital and later to switch to formula, but it didn't work out, so baby is on just formula, but doing very well.

Ben, Jerry's, and Peta
By now I'm sure you all heard that Peta sent a letter to Ben and Jerry's ice cream asking them to start making their ice cream with human breast milk. Ben and Jerry's played along and responded by telling them that human breast milk is best left for human babies.
I hope no one thought this was serious and that Ben and Jerry's would even consider such a thing. I've got to hand it to Peta though. They really know how to get media attention to themselves and their causes.
Fashion Tips For the Top Heavy Plus Size Teen
You need to start with a bra that fits right. The right bra will give you the support you need. It will help relieve some of the pressure on your shoulders and back. It will provide the proper foundation for your clothes. Yes, a good quality bra will not be cheap but it will make an instant change in the way your clothes fit. Try on the bra before buying it. Put your top back on and check yourself in the mirror. You'll know if the bra is right because you'll see an immediate improvement in the way your top fits.
Want, or need, even more support? Look into a sports bra. No, you don't have to be playing sports to wear a sports bra. Today's sports bra provides excellent support in a comfortable and attractive way.
Once you are wearing the right support garment, it is time to go shopping for clothes that will make you feel comfortable about yourself while, at the same time, accentuating the positive.
* Accentuate your breasts in a positive manner. Avoid tops with ruffles and bows which will draw attention to your chest AND make it look larger. Look for tops with scooped necklines and V necklines. These types of tops draw the eye to the neckline and away from your chest.
* Look for shirts that have some stretch material in them. A particular problem for large breasted women are button down shirts which pull and pucker in all the wrong places. With a bit of stretch in the fabric, these shirts will fit better.
* Buy tank tops with a built in bra. And then wear them WITH your bra. Alone these tops do not provide enough support but with your regular bra, they create a much neater appearance.
* Don't try to hide your chest with an oversize shirt. An oversize shirt will give you an oversize look from your shoulder to your hips. You end up with a big top instead of just a big chest.
